If you thought the Switch had a pretty damn successful first year, you shouldn’t be surprised to hear that it is now the fastest-selling console in the US of all-time.

Since March, 4.8 million units have been sold, more than any other console in history – yes, even the Wii. Nintendo confirmed as much in a press release, in which they also listed off a few more of their notable achievements.

60% of all Switch owners have a copy of Super Mario Odyssey, the GOTY for many in 2017. However, the runaway best game of 2017, Breath of the Wild, lags slightly behind on 55%. Even more surprising? Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is owned by half of all Switch users, quite an achievement considering an earlier version was already available on Wii U.

Breath of the Wild

A good debut year looks like it’s just the start for the Switch: the platform also has the likes of Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, the inevitable Smash game, Yoshi, Kirby, and the untitled Pokemon game still to come.
