Square Enix and Toylogic have revealed a brand new look at Nier Replicant footage with a 10 minute gameplay showcase. Replicant is a remake of the PS3 and Xbox 360 game Nier, which itself is a prequel to the highly successful Nier Automata. Check out the gameplay footage for yourself at the top of the page.
Cor, Nier Replicant Looks Lovely, Doesn’t It?
It sure does. The footage shown is taken from the Barren Temple, an area you visit a few hours into the game. Here, the main protagonist, alongside companions Grimoire Weiss and Kaine, can be seen exploring the temple grounds and speaking to the locals, before making their way inside the dungeons to fight the shades and some mysterious sentient cubes.
Nier Replicant will be launching on April 23rd, 2021 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC (no PS5 and Xbox Series X | S enhancements have been announced, but it’ll still be playable), and is a full-blown remake of the PS3, Japan-only version of the game. The Japanese PS3 version, referred to as Replicant, featured a young lad looking after his sister, while other versions of the game depicted an older man, looking after his daughter. It’s a bit of a mess, but it wouldn’t be a Nier game if it wasn’t weird.
