Nicolas Cage Will Voice Superman In Teen Titans Go! To the Movies

Superman

This is something we never thought would happen, so it appears that dreams really do come true. Or at least they do for Nicolas Cage. That’s because the Oscar-winning actor will finally achieve his heart’s desire to portray Superman in the upcoming animated film Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, something he has wanted to do for decades.

Just how much of a Superman fan is Nicolas Cage, you ask? Well, the actor was famously going to play the character in Superman Lives back in the nineties. Kevin Smith had completed the screenplay and Tim Burton was going to direct, but the film ultimately never got made, although we did get the documentary The Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened?, which Cage unfortunately refused to participate in. It’s worth noting that Cage also named his son Kal-El, after Superman’s birth name, and he also previously owned an issue of Action Comics #1, in which Superman made his first appearance, but sold it for $2.1 million.

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies serves as a spin-off from the popular Teen Titans Go! TV series, and features the super team going to Hollywood to make a movie. Alongside Cage, the cast will also include Greg Cipes, Tara Strong, Scott Menville, Khary Payton, and Hynden Walch. There’s no word yet on whether Batman will also show up in the film, but as he’s one of DC’s most bankable characters, it seems more than likely that he will make an appearance. We’ll know for sure when the film opens in wide release on July 27, 2018.
