Niantic Announce Pokémon GO’s Second Year Anniversary Event

Pokemon Go Pikachu

Starting on July 6th until July 31st, players of Pokémon GO will be able to find a rare Pikachu wearing summer attire alongside increased spawn rates of Pikachu and Pichu in celebration of the game’s two year anniversary.

This is a great opportunity for players to capture the yellow mascot as it’s usually a rare find. They’ll also be able to gain Pikachu related clothing in the online shop if they achieve a Bronze, Silver or Gold Pikachu fan medal. Alongside all of this info, the company has revealed that Special Research tasks will soon provide players with the hunt for Legendary Pokémon Celebi.

It’s hard to believe that two years ago Pokémon GO was suddenly dropped upon the world and still shows no sign of slowing down. The game’s sales remain strong and profited a massive £78.7 million in May 2018, coincidentally also reaching its highest active player count since its initial release at a staggering 147 million people. This is expected to have increased over June and July.

Pokémon GO is just a fad though, right?
