We recently introduced you to the Romanian trio, Temple Invisible, back in a recent edition of PULSE. As a quick bit of catch up for those that missed that (click the link above, damn it!), the band formed back in 2012 and bonded over a mutual love the darker and more intense realms of electronic-based music.
Since the band have been steadily recorded and releasing singles, showing a steady development in their melodic, industrial soundscape, and culminating in the release of their EP Enter_ this month. If you hadn’t worked it out from reading PULSE, you should have worked it out by now; they’re YOUR NEW FAVOURITE BAND!
Firstly, hello there, and who am I talking to from the band? How’s things by the way?
Hey. Irina here, all good, thanks. Enjoying the snow. How about you?
I’m great thanks, enjoying the Christmas festivities. Now, for those that didn’t read our feature about yourselves, would you care to tell the readers in your own words what you’re all about, and how you got started?
We’re Temple Invisible, a Bucharest based music band comprised of Costas, Daniel and myself. Costas and I met somewhere in 2012 and in December 2012 we made our first song “Everything From Above”. We found the name for the band and started working on songs. In April 2014 Daniel joined us.
Your sound is powerfully distinct but also reminiscent of genres such as industrial, goth rock, electronica, synth pop, techno, and in some cases sounds that wouldn’t sound out of place on a science fiction/horror soundtrack. You must have a wide array of influences, who would you say are some of the your biggest?
Our most beloved artists include Radiohead, Atoms For Peace, NIN, Moderat, How To Destroy Angels, Massive Attack and U.N.K.L.E. They inspire us into the core. We’re also big fans of film music and cinematic sounds.
You’ve released a couple of singles this year, the first being Disappearance back in May, how have you found the feedback and reactions to these singles so far?
We are truly grateful for the support we’ve had from all of our friends and amazed by the general feedback. It is a powerful motivating force and it is the most superb feeling to feel these energies create life around our music.
Speaking of releases, December 15th sees the release of your debut EP, Enter_. How excited are you to get this debut out in the open and just in time for the end of the year? Would it be safe to say you have a very winter based sound?
Wow, keen observation (“winter based sound”). Never thought of it this way, but it is correct indeed. Almost every song has the word “white” in it. The white winter in which the snow reflects the sun’s light like in cosmos where we are able to observe light only when reflected by other objects. So, we’re very excited to release the EP, as it enables us to experience its reflection. Also, being close to the end of the year, we are at the collision of an end and a beginning.
With the EP released are there any plans for big live dates? Support slots? Tours? One off headliners? Anywhere our readers can catch you?
For now, we have several planned gigs in Romania. We would love to travel all around, meet new people, share and create new experiences and most importantly: connect. I think this is what music is all about. What everything is all about?
Is there a rich music scene in Romania, specifically Bucharest where you come from? Are there bands from your scene or further afield that you would highly recommend we check out?
There surely is a rich music scene in Romania. We would recommend you have a listen to The Ghost of 3.13, Tomma Alistar, Armies and Liar. There are many more artists and we are happy to be a part of this increasing fervour.
If you had a pet vulture that was exceptionally cultured, what would you name it?
Funions. No, I’m kidding. Probably Om. As consciousness took form, the first and original vibration manifested as the sound “Om” and coincidentally, or not, the word “om” literally means “human” in Romanian.
Thank you for your interest in our music. We love your blog, so thanks.
