Activision have announced that they’re delaying the launch of the new seasons of content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone and the Mobile game. Season 4 of MW and Warzone and season 7 of Call of Duty: Mobile were both scheduled to launch this week, but they’ve been delayed indefinitely.

In a statement on Twitter addressing the issue, Activision make note of the current political situation in America, with Black Lives Matter protesters marching after the wrongful death of George Floyd and the police’s overzealous approach towards black citizens and fellow people of colour.

The statement reads: “While we all look forward to playing the new seasons of Modern Warfare, Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile, now is not the time. We are moving the launches of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 to later dates. Right now it’s time for those speaking up for equality, justice and change to be seen and heard. We stand alongside you.”

It’s a similar sentiment to the one shared by Sony and PlayStation, who announced last night that their next-gen showcase, which was originally scheduled for this Thursday, has now also been delayed. Other companies have also stood in support of Black Lives Matter, including the likes of Naughty Dog and more.
