I don’t think it would be much of a leap to suggest that Shane Black is one of the most interesting directors we have around today. He seems to be able to make a joke out of anything, no matter how inappropriate it is, and has won plaudits for his work on The Nice Guys and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He also did Iron Man 3, but that was more of a templated Marvel movie than something of his own mind.
