There’s A Mouse Cursor In The Crash Bandicoot 4 Trailer

An understandable oopsie.

Sometimes I write about lockdown’s effect on game developers, or how some people like to buy Platinum trophies. Other times, though, sometimes it’s worth just writing about a random mouse cursor where it shouldn’t be.

Since its reveal, the trailer for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time has racked up millions of views, it showing the return of the orange fury along with his new art style and characters. It’s definitely a great sizzle reel of what we have to expect for his first new game in many years before it launches in October.

You can check it our for yourself below.

Pretty fun, right? Very bright and chaotic, plus the choice of Fatboy Slim is a smart one considering his 90s heyday, too.

If you skip to 1:12, though, you might notice something: a mouse cursor on the left side of the screen as Crash looks on in panic next to the new mask character who doesn’t seem to have a name yet.

What does this mean, then? Is it confirmation that Crash 4 will come to PC? Could Crash become a point and click game?

Nothing. It means nothing. The likelihood is that someone at Toys For Bob or Activision were recording footage for the trailer while working from home and simply forgot to move their mouse. As to how it went overlooked in the edit, that’s almost certainly down to tight deadlines and less than ideal conditions to work with.

If anything, this little error should be a reminder of how remarkable it is that developers are still able to develop games with the way the world is right now. They are wizards, so I’m sure a mouse cursor in a trailer that only eagle-eyed weirdos like me noticed can be forgiven.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time launches October 2nd for Xbox One and PS4. No news on Switch or PC versions.
