The most exciting franchise about tracking gigantic beasts certainly wowed back at E3 2017 with the reveal of Monster Hunter World. For the first time in a long time, more than just the series’ core fans were eager to jump aboard.

And now we have a release date.

Revealed at TGS by Capcom, Monster Hunter World drops 26th January 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, though the trailer didn’t also seem to confirm a PC release, which is expected to come later.

There will be a PS4 Pro special edition released to coincide with the game alongside a digital deluxe version and a collector’s edition. Pre-orders start tomorrow.

It’s interesting to note that MHW is following in the footsteps of Resident Evil 7 as a “big” game releasing in January, which is not historically the most prolific month for video games. It seemed to work for Capcom for 2017, so they may be trying it again for next year with the early release of Monster Hunter World.

Excited for Monster Hunter World? I haven’t tried much Monster Hunter since I blearily stumbled my way through the first release on the PS2, so I am intrigued to see how the series has progressed since.
