The film, which stars Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman and more, is being directed by Resident Evil movie director Paul W. S. Anderson, so take that as either a good sign or an omen of impending disaster. There can be no middle ground when Anderson is concerned: you either love it or hate it, and Monster Hunter looks like it’ll be another instance of that.

As for the trailer itself, we get a sneak peek at two of the monsters that’ll be appearing in the film, namely the Rathalos and Diablos. With those two arguably being the most recognisable monsters of the series, it makes sense that they get top billing in the movie, and in all fairness, the CGI looks decent, or as decent as it can be when being viewed via shaky phone camera footage. They look accurate to the game anyway, which is always a plus.

The plot will see a United Nations team transported to an alternate dimension where humans fight big monsters for loot. Together with a mysterious Hunter, they must find a way to stop these monsters from invading our Earth. Monster Hunter is scheduled to release next year. Excited? Sound off in the comments.
