Microsoft’s Xbox One X Sells 80K Units In The UK In Its First Week

Xbox One X

The Xbox One X has been available to consumers for a little under a week now, with its amazing 4K visuals and all round performance enhancements to plenty of Xbox’s finest back catalogue. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the little console that could has sold over 80,000 units in the UK alone during its first week of sale, matching the Nintendo Switch launch and beating the PS4 Pro.

Sony’s PS4 Pro managed to sell 50k in its first week on sale, but both the Switch and the PS4 Pro were hamstrung by stock shortages across the board. The PS4 Pro only managed to sell 80k units after 4 weeks on sale. So long as Microsoft have the stock to meet the demand of the console, their sales figures should be very impressive indeed.

It’s also worth noting that over half of the sales for “the most powerful console ever created” came from the special Project Scorpio edition of the console. Basically, a lot of people pre-ordered their Xbox One X’s, and the sales figures reflect that.

Whilst those sales figures are certainly nothing to sneeze at, they give no indication as to the momentum of the sales. It’ll be interesting to see if the number of consoles sold decreases at all over the coming weeks, but with both Black Friday and Christmas looming on the horizon, it’s likely that the number of units sold will keep climbing steadily into the New Year.

Have you bagged yourself an Xbox One X? How are you enjoying those enhanced visuals? Sound off in the comments below.
