Microsoft Buys inXile Entertainment And Obsidian

Microsoft have just upped their RPG pedigree with this X018 announcement, as it has been confirmed that they have acquired both inXile Entertainment, creators of Wastelands and A Bard’s Tale, and Obsidian, the developers behind South Park: The Stick of Truth, Pillars of Eternity and, if you like that sort of thing, Alpha Protocol.

These latest acquisitions join a growing family of third party developers that includes Ninja Theory, Undead Labs, Compulsion Games and more. Obsidian’s acquisition by Microsoft has long been rumoured, but the inXile Entertainment news is perhaps more shocking. Still, it’s good to see that Microsoft and Team Xbox are dedicated to bolstering their exclusives line-up in the years to come.
