Alright, we’ve talked a lot about the Microsoft acquisition of ZeniMax, and subsequently Bethesda and all other subsidiary studios, quite a bit over the past two days, but Microsoft have today announced that the deal has been finalised, meaning the Xbox family has become way bigger. The news was broken on Twitter earlier today.

Okay, So What Does This Finalised Deal Mean?

Quite a bit, it seems. In a post over on Xbox Wire, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer speaks about how the partnership will “give these teams the best foundation for doing their greatest work and to learn from them as we continue to build Xbox into an inclusive platform for all players”.

Phil also confirms what many gamers were hoping for/dreading, depending on whether or not you owned an Xbox or PlayStation: there will be exclusives. Phil himself says: “With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.”

Alright, What About Game Pass?

According to the blog post, Bethesda are big fans of Game Pass, “understanding the potential” of the subscription service. While the post doesn’t say whether Bethesda games will launch into the service on day one, it does promise some additional Game Pass games to be announced this week. My best guess would be the complete Wolfenstein series, for starters. Maybe The Evil Within and Dishonored as well. Who knows?
