New The Last Jedi Deleted Scene Shows Phasma Rising From The Ashes

Last Jedi still: Phasma and Finn duelling

A deleted scene from Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been released on the official Star Wars YouTube channel, and it shows Finn and the villainous Captain Phasma engaging in a deadly duel, after the Captain is seen murdering her own Stormtroopers. The scene starts at 1:35 in the video below:

Most fans will probably agree that this deleted scene offers a far more satisfying end to Phasma than we got in the film, where she simply falls into a fiery explosion and is never seen or heard from again. But with a runtime already over two and a half hours, it’s easy to see why it ended up on the cutting room floor. Another reason why the scene was cut could possibly be to leave Phasma’s fate ambiguous, as actress Gwendoline Christie has hinted that she may return in a future instalment.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was written and directed by Rian Johnson, and stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, John Boyega, and Andy Serkis. It has currently grossed a worldwide total of $1.3 billion, although it’s now entering the final days of its theatrical release. The deleted scene described above will be available on the special features when the film arrives home on Blu-ray on April 9.
