Konami Postpone Euro 2020 Update For PES 2020

Also now digital only.

PES 2020 review

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Konami has today announced that the Euro 2020 update for PES 2020 (or eFootball PES 2020, to give it its full name) will be postponed until further notice.

Owing to the state of emergency declared in Japan that has closed down the office, the continued development of the DLC is no longer viable. It was due to be released two weeks from now, April 30th. The physical release of the game has been cancelled outright; Euro 2020 will now just be a digital release whenever it does come out.

However, the UEFA eEURO 2020 esports tournament will still take place, moved from July in London to an entirely online experience from May 23 – 24.

PES 2020 review

With the actual Euros being postponed this summer until at least next year, we were in a weird spot to see a tie-in released for an event that would never actually take place, or at least in 2020. Quite the headache for Konami and UEFA what they do for next year’s actual event.

Expect there to be many more delays like this from the video game world going forward.

PES 2020 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
