Keanu Reeves Would Be Down For A New Matrix Movie

Path of Neo

In the modern age of Hollywood where every dormant property seems to get a reboot, sequel, or spiritual successor, it’s strange that talk of a new Matrix movie hasn’t been floating around. But one of its stars would be up for reprising his most iconic role.

Speaking to Yahoo! Movies UK, Keanu Reeves, who played Neo in all three films of the trilogy, was nonchalantly up for the idea of returning to the Matrix universe almost fifteen years after the closing chapter, The Matrix Revolutions.

“The Wachowskis would have to be involved. They would have to write it and direct it. And then we’d see what the story is, but yeah, I dunno, that’d be weird, but why not? People die, stories don’t, people in stories don’t.”

He makes some valid points: as polarising as their recent output has been, it just wouldn’t be the same without The Wachowskis. There’s also so much to explore that’s separate from the events of the original trilogy, so it wouldn’t be that wild to plug back into the Matrix.

Reeves was talking to Yahoo to promote John Wick: Chapter 2, which we thoroughly loved thanks to the lack of dead dogs. Also, this happened.

If you’ll excuse me, I have to go and write a 3000 word essay on why The Matrix Revolutions was actually great, goddamn it.
