Johnny Gargano & Kyle O’Reilly Say Farewell To NXT

Tears were shed.

WWE

In case any questions remained on the status of Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly in NXT, they put those to rest as NXT TV went off the air yesterday, bidding farewell to the fans in an emotional exit for the two former NXT champions. Both Gargano and O’Reilly performed for the final time on the NXT brand during last night’s episode, with O’Reilly doing the honours for Von Wagner in a Steel Cage match and ‘Johnny Wrestling’ confirming his departure before being attacked by Grayson Waller.

Gargano and O’Reilly spent a good amount of time after the cameras stopped rolling with the fans in attendance, signing merch and taking photos in a showing of appreciation to the brand’s loyal supporters. NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa joined them for this emotional display.

WWE have been desperately trying to pen a new deal for both Kyle and Johnny in recent weeks, however it seems likely that both men will seek greener pastures elsewhere in the industry, with Johnny also taking time off to focus on his newborn in February.

Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly now join a plethora of other NXT superstars that have left the promotion in 2021, including the likes of Undisputed Era’s Adam Cole and Bobby Fish. It seems that the Black and Gold era is well and truly coming to an end, with so many 2.0 stars now being put over by the old guard.

We hope to see both wrestlers again in the near future.
