Should I stay or should I go?

Reports have broken the news of the impending expiration of both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly’s NXT contracts. WWE have allegedly been fighting hard to re-sign both former champions, while a growing number of talent are fleeing WWE for greener pastures in All Elite Wrestling.

The former NXT Champion, Johnny Gargano, is set to be a free agent as of December 10th, after having his contract extended for a week to ensure his presence at TakeOver: WarGames. Although, WWE are still pushing hard for Gargano to stay on past his extra week. It is currently unknown as to whether ‘Johnny Wrestling’ will stick around following the WarGames event this weekend.

Meanwhile, the former Undisputed Era member’s contract is set to expire before the end of 2021. O’Reilly is also scheduled to appear at TakeOver: WarGames in an NXT Tag Team title match alongside 2.0 hopeful, Von Wagner. Needless to say, this is a far-cry from his star-making performances against Adam Cole earlier on in the year. At the time of writing, WWE have yet to re-sign Kyle O’Reilly.

Both wrestlers have reportedly impressed writers backstage, especially Gargano with his 2021 run as part of The Way. It’s likely that WWE will do their utmost to keep both men signed, considering the track record of former NXT champions who have jumped ship in recent months, including the likes of Adam Cole and fellow former UE member, Bobby Fish.
