Monday Night RAW star Jason Jordan underwent successful neck surgery on Tuesday.

WWE confirmed the news on their website, stating that the multiple time Tag Team Champion was subject to a minimally invasive posterior cervical microdiscectomy.

“He had an injury to a disc in his neck which resulted in significant pain that was refractory to all conservative measures,” WWE Medical Director Dr. Joseph Maroon said. “It was decided to do a minimally invasive operation to decompress the nerve, to allow it to heal.”

There is no set date for Jordan’s return to in-ring action, with the former NXT and SmackDown Live superstar facing an indefinite lay-off from action.

Jordan joins a long injury list that has laid waste to a large portion of the RAW roster.

As reported by PWInsider, Jordan was removed from WWE’s live event schedule in the run up to the procedure but was featured on WWE TV in a non-physical role to retain continuity on his prominent feud teaming with Seth Rollins against Sheamus and Cesaro.

Jordan was effectively written out of physical action at the Royal Rumble on January 28, after a poorly-advised concussion angle led to him and Rollins dropping the RAW Tag Team Championships to their opponents.

On the January 5 broadcast of Monday Night RAW, Jordan’s on-screen father Kurt Angle forced the former American Alpha member to leave and return only when medically cleared.

Jordan has been backed to the hilt by WWE since rising to prominence with Chad Gable as part of American Alpha in NXT.

With Gable, the pair captured the NXT Tag Team Championships in April 2016 at NXT Takeover: Dallas, before going on to pick up the SmackDown Live equivalent by beating The Wyatt Family in December 2016.

After losing the titles to the Usos under three months later, American Alpha were quietly disbanded before Jordan was drafted as a singles competitor to RAW.

Not long thereafter, Jordan was catapulted into a storyline where it was revealed that he is the on-screen son of RAW GM Kurt Angle. The storyline has since been the subject of intense debate by fans.
