The First PlayStation Plus Games Of 2021 Are Here

Raid tombs, eat men, greed... fall?

Maneater

2021 is here, proving that the passage of time is an all encompassing maw that will swallow everything in its path. Dread it, run from it, your thirties/fourties will arrive all the same. Luckily, there’s the new PlayStation Plus games for January 2021 to distract you from the existential dread.

What PlayStation Plus Games Are Available Today?

From today, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to claim and download three games: Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Maneater (PS5 only) and Greedfall. Once claimed, you’ll have full access to these games from now until your PS Plus subscription lapses.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the conclusion to the reboot trilogy developed by Crystal Dynamics, which once again sees Lara covered in mud, staging gunfights through the remnants of ancient civilisations. Meanwhile, Greedfall is an ambitious RPG where players explore an ancient island where various factions vie for control of the magic that resides there.

Personally, the best pick of January 2021’s selection is Maneater, a “shark-PG” where you control a hungry shark seeking revenge on the fisherman that killed your mother. In a way, it’s a spiritual successor to Jaws Unleashed, only 10 times better and you can give yourself electricity powers. It’s dumb, but a great amount fun all the same.

When Do The PlayStation Plus Games Go Live?

If the games aren’t showing up on the PS Plus tab on your PS4 or PS5, they typically go live around noon in your region. Once live, just hit download and you’re good to go.
