Immortals Fenyx Rising Will Have Microtransactions

Still a worse name than Gods & Monsters.

Immortals Fenyx Rising

It has been revealed that Immortals Fenyx Rising, the upcoming open-world adventure game from Ubisoft, will contain microtransactions of some kind. The news comes from the Australian Ratings Authority, who have rated the upcoming game for “USB”. Pure PlayStation, who found the listing, speculate that USB means Google Stadia, which is one of the confirmed platforms.

Microtransactions? In An Ubisoft Game?

I know, it’s shocking. In Australia, the game has been rated as M for Mature, citing the following reasons: “Fantasy themes, violence, online interactivity and in-game purchases”. There’s no word on what the online interactivity or in-game purchases are, but it’s entirely possible we’ll see a host of purchasable cosmetic packs along with the Ubisoft staple Time Saver packs. For what it’s worth, the Microsoft Store page also lists “in-app purchases” as part of the game.

The Gold Edition of Immortals Fenyx Rising does feature an additional quest, along with a Season Pass, so there is extra content on the way for the game. Hopefully, any microtransactions in the game aren’t invasive, allowing players to skip them entirely. Immortals Fenyx Rising will launch on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X and Google Stadia on December 3rd, with an exclusive Google Stadia demo before launch.
