The Huntsman: Winter’s War Brings on the Ice

Even with Kristen Stewart out of the picture, Snow White and the Huntsman is still getting a sequel. Well, a prequel/spin-off. The trailer for The Huntsman: Winter’s War has just been released, with both Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron returning for their previous roles, Eric the Huntsman and Queen Ravenna respectively.

From the trailer, the writers seem to have taken a more icy approach, deciding this time to focus on the Huntsman’s past with the Ice Queen ā€“ Emily Blunt in the role ā€“ plus the romance he has with Sara the Warrior ā€“ played by Jessica Chastain ā€“ that will undoubtedly end in tragedy (if his backstory from the previous film is to be accounted for).

Some new details have been shown that will make fans of Snow White and the Huntsman either super excited or immensely confused. Freya (the ice Queen) is revealed to be Ravenna’s little sister, and Freya has also somehow resurrected her by getting the mirror that lead to her sister’s doom.

So, it begins as a prequel but ends as a sequel? Not too sure about this. But I’m certain the movie will explain that in great detail when it finally comes out; or not. Though the costumes, visuals, and special effects look breathtaking, hence my excitement for the film, and I do love Charlize Theron as Queen Ravenna so I’ll most likely see it on its opening week.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War is scheduled to be released on April 22, 2016.
