Desperados 3 is a challenging RTS set across three chapters spanning sixteen levels in total. It’s a surprisingly robust game, and while RTS games in general are usually very long, the fact that Desperados 3 is narrative-focused rather than open-ended means that length is even more impressive.
By our estimates, we think it will take you anywhere between 20 and 25 hours to dust of the campaign the first time around. It all depends on how quickly you can beat the game’s massive, sprawling levels with many different obstacles in your way.
Some of the game’s levels may take you well over an hour to complete, such is the slow progress that you usually make due to the learning by failure nature of the game.
In terms of full completion, we reckon you could add on dozens and dozens of hours. This is because there are separate challenges to complete, as well as special feats for the single player, such as completing a level in a really short amount of time.
Desperados 3 is certainly a game that will give you your money’s worth. It costs a little less than a standard AAA game, so if you maybe want to swerve The Last of Us Part II, it could be a pretty decent alternative.
