Hitman 3 Becomes Most Profitable Game in Franchise

Agent 47's latest mission has overtaken Hitman 2 as the franchise's most successful installment

Hitman 3

Hitman 3, the latest installment in the long-running stealth assassination series that came out in January of this year, has become the most successful game in the franchise, surpassing the previous top seller, Hitman 2, and making it the top selling title out of all eight Hitman games.

According to IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak, January’s release was “300% more successful” than the previous installment, an extreme achievement and an indication of Hitman 3’s popularity. This windfall is in line with Hitman 3’s extremely positive reviews.

IO Interactive is currently developing a licensed James Bond game, meaning it may be some time before another Hitman game is put into development, so it appears that for the time being Hitman fans will have to be content with Hitman 3, at least as far as games go. A TV adaptation of Hitman is said to be in development from Derek Kolstad, the creator of the John Wick film franchise.
