A mysterious capsule crashes into a yakuza member’s flat, deposits a telekinetic girl on his furniture and turns organised crime into an unexpectedly expensive parenting exercise. Hinamatsuri made that arrangement seem almost sensible. Almost.
When Is Hinamatsuri: Season 2 Coming Out?
Season 2 has not been announced, so it has no confirmed release date.
And it probably won’t get one at this point.
The first and most recent TV season ended on 22 June 2018 after 12 episodes. It was a single cour, not a split season, and no later OVA or anime film continued the story.
As of October 2026, the official anime website and its news archive have basically nothing to report. The archive has effectively remained in its 2018-era housekeeping phase, which is not the ideal vital sign for an imminent sequel.
That does not amount to an official cancellation. There is ample source material, and older comedies occasionally receive surprise revivals, but there is currently no production confirmation, studio, staff list or release window to report. So, yeah: not a great outlook.
What Could Hinamatsuri: Season 2 Be About?
A sequel could expand Mao’s journey, develop the cast’s increasingly strange careers and eventually move into the characters’ high-school years.
While nothing is confirmed, the manga provides plenty of unused material. Mao’s attempts to reach Japan could become a more substantial thread, while Anzu continues building a life far removed from Hina’s talent for wrecking Nitta’s belongings.
Later volumes advance the timeline by several years. Hina enters high school, Hitomi’s accidental professional empire becomes still more ridiculous, and Nitta acquires an intimidating yakuza reputation that does not entirely match the exhausted parent underneath it.
The anime rearranged chapters and skipped several stories, however, so Season 2 would not have one perfectly tidy starting volume. Any continuation would probably combine omitted comedy with later plotlines rather than adapt the manga in strict sequence.
Where Can You Watch Hinamatsuri?
In both the UK and US, the series is available through Crunchyroll’s subscription service and its separately billed Amazon channel.
The October 2026 UK listing also shows digital purchases through Amazon Video and the Apple TV Store. The US listing shows Apple TV Store purchases. The Crunchyroll Amazon Channel requires its own subscription and is not included with ordinary Prime membership.
Availability can change, so checking the relevant UK or US listing before subscribing remains sensible.
Can You Read The Manga While You Wait?
Yes. One Peace Books has released the complete 19-volume manga in English.
The publisher’s official series page lists the English editions, including the nineteenth and final volume, which contains the conclusion, an epilogue and creator commentary.
Because the anime changed the order of events and omitted chapters, beginning with Volume 1 is the smoothest option. It also supplies more of the deadpan domestic nonsense that television has declined to provide since 2018.
