Heaven Official’s Blessing: Season 2 – Everything You Should Know

Heaven's Official Blessing Season 2
Heaven's Official Blessing Season 2

Heaven Official’s Blessing is a fantasy anime adapted from a popular Chinese web novel.  Also known as Tian Guan Ci Fu in Mandarin, the series was first published in 2017 on Jinjiang Literature City, an online Chinese website that publishes and serialises web novels. The story follows the tale of a reincarnated god, Xie Lian, and a king of the ghost realm, Hua Cheng. But what’s going on with Heaven’s Official Blessing: Season 2?

Heaven Official’s Blessing has been adapted into a donghua animation, which was originally released in China at the end of October 2020 by Bilibili and Funimation. It was also the first donghua animation to be dubbed by Funimation. This first season later became available for viewers outside of China on Netflix. However, while a second season has been all but confirmed, there is little news on its future release.

When Is Heaven Official’s Blessing: Season 2 Coming Out?

Season 2 of Heaven Official’s Blessing was confirmed by Bilibili in January 2021. Bilibili has released a trailer for Season 2,  while Funimation has also released their own trailer for Season 2.

However, there is no confirmed release date for Heaven Official’s Blessing: Season 2 just yet despite it previously being pencilled in for 2022, so watch this space. There is also a live-action adaptation in the works called Eternal Faith, and while filming is currently being done, there is no official release date on that either.

What Is Heaven Official’s Blessing: Season 2 About?

Heaven Official’s Blessing is based on a web novel series written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. The series’ final book was released on March 7th, 2022, so the adaptation has a lot of material to work with.

The source material has a total of 244 chapters, and Season 1 only covers the first arc of the story. Season 2 will probably follow the Ghost City arc, where Xie Lian travels to Hua Cheng’s home. However, as with any adaptation process, some details aren’t included in the donghua. In the same way as Season 1, Season 2 may omit some details from the original novel series.

Which Studio Is Making Heaven Official’s Blessing: Season 2?

Season 1 was animated by Haoliners Animation League. Since Bilibili is the production company in charge of adapting Heaven Official’s Blessing, this is unlikely to change, as Haoliners Animation League is a subsidiary of Bilibili. As for the dubbed version of Heaven Official’s Blessing: Season 2, unless there are any major changes or disagreements between the companies, it’s likely that Funimation will also dub over the second season.

Where Will Heaven Official’s Blessing: Season 2 Be Aired?

Though there is no information on when Season 2 will be released, Season 1 is currently available on Netflix and Funimation. It is also available on the Bilibili’s YouTube channel, though only for those who have signed up as members. Also, for English fans of Heaven Official’s Blessing, the novels are officially being translated by Seven Seas Entertainment. There will be eight volumes in total, and the fifth is the latest one to be released as of the 13th of April, 2023.
