Halo Infinite: How To Earn Valor

Halo Infinite’s long-awaited campaign has finally dropped, and the ambitious open world evolution has gone down well, offering a new way to experience this legacy series. However, a new way to play Halo naturally includes some new mechanics that could confuse some players. This includes Valor, a reward you can earn for completing different activities.

Here’s everything you need to know about Halo Infinite’s Valor system.

What Is Valor?

Valor is, for a lack of a better term, a persistently tracked score that increases as you complete the various open world activities and missions that are scattered across the Zeta Halo ring. As you play through the game, you’ll earn more and more Valor, which can lead to numerous rewards and new content.

How Do You Earn Valor?

In order to earn Valor, you need to complete different activities while on the Zeta Ring, which includes main missions (aside from the first two missions before you’ve established your base on Zeta), clearing Banished outposts (shown as purple icons on the map), rescuing UNSC squads from Banished ambushes and destroying propaganda towers. Missions and outposts reward the most Valor, but every little helps.

What Is Valor Used For?

At certain Valor point milestones, you’ll unlock the ability to summon different weapons and vehicles at liberated FOBs, along with additional trooper types who’ll spawn at FOBs and can join you if you’ve got an empty space in your vehicle. In the early going, you’ll unlock less useful weapons and vehicles, like the Sidekick Pistol or the Mongoose, but later on, you’ll be able to summon flying vehicles and experimental versions of the various UNSC weaponry.

At first glance, Valor doesn’t seem like the most useful part of Halo Infinite’s gameplay loop, but when you’re able to summon sniper rifles and Scorpion tanks on a regular basis, Valor is the most useful part of the entire campaign.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox Series X | S, and Xbox One.
