After leaking just under a month ago, the official release date for Gears 5 has officially been revealed. Players will be able to uncover the truth of Kait Diaz’s backstory for themselves on September 10th, and you can play it early with the Ultimate Edition or via an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. But that’s not all, as on July 17th, you can join a multiplayer tech test that’ll introduce a new Arcade mode, while in August, players can experience a new version of the game’s well known Horde mode. During today’s stream, a whole new mode was detailed: Escape. Teams of three work together to infiltrate Swarm hives, plant a bomb and escape with their lives. Also, if you pre-order the game and play in the first week, you can enjoy a Terminator skin, because why the hell not?
As with all Xbox Game Studios titles, Gears 5 will launch directly onto Xbox Game Pass when it launches, joining over 200 titles from a variety of publishers.
