With spooky season about to hit full swing, you best believe that Fortnite is also about to kick into Halloween gear with Fortnitemares 2023. Fortnite’s annual tradition is one of the most popular events of the year, and 2023’s edition looks like bringing more of the PG frights that we’ve come to know and love over the last five years.

This year’s edition doesn’t have much to do to be better than Fortnitemares 2022, in truth. Apart from a couple of new items, Ash from Evil Dead as a skin, and a strange wolf DJ, it’s hard to remember much of it at all to the point where it might go down as the worst Fortnitemares yet. All 2023 has to do is keep reeling off content throughout the whole of October while also making seasonal changes to how the map looks — a bit of purple lighting will go a long way.

If you’re looking to get your spook on on the Fortnite island this year, here’s everything you need to know about Fortnitemares 2023, including when it starts and what kind of cosmetics you can look forward to.

Fortnitemares 2023 Start Date & Time

Fortnitemares 2023 is due to officially begin on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023, giving players roughly three weeks of horror themed content.

Epic will need to release the v26.30 update before Fortnitemares is playable, which is likely to happen at around 9AM BST, with the game then being offline for up to a couple of hours. Once you’ve installed the new patch, Fortnitemares should be upon you.

When Will Fortnitemares 2023 End?

Traditionally, Fortnitemares ends just about as soon as Halloween itself is over, so expect Fortnitemares 2023 to wrap up on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023.

Players will likely have Fortnitemares challenges to complete that will release over the course of the event, but 21 days or so is likely more than enough time to tick them all off and get your free rewards.

What To Expect From Fortnitemares 2023

UPDATE: Fortnitemares 2023 has been properly unveiled, and it will include three new collaboration skins: Alan Wake, Jack Skellington, and Michael Myers from Halloween.

All of these skins will also be available in bundles, meaning they will be sold in the Fortnite Item Shop.

Myers will even come with his own emote that shows him playing the iconic Halloween theme.

ORIGINAL STORY: So far, not much has actually been confirmed about Fortnitemares 2023 outside of the basics. The teaser image from Epic shows a crescent moon, though this has always been part of the theme of Chapter 4 – Season 3.

As mentioned, special Fortnitemares challenges and rewards for completing them are pretty much a given. Players will likely have to keep coming back every day for challenges, with a big reward (like a free skin) available to those who complete all of them.

Elsewhere, special skins are expected, with plenty of crossovers most likely in the pipeline to tie in with horror-themed properties. We may finally get a Pennywise skin that was teased years and years ago, though the sheer size of his cranium might put some buyers off.

In terms of actual content apart from cosmetics, Horde Rush is expected to return, and leakers have also come across a new shotgun called Vampire Stake in the game’s files that might work best against special NPCs.

We will update this once we have all of the information on Fortnitemares 2023.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
