Fortnite Shadow Abilities: Slash, Dash, Scream & Shadow Jump

Yeah, this is broken.

As part of Fortnitemares 2020, Epic have added a rather interesting new mechanic: you get to return as a Shadow when you’re eliminated, who have their own unique set of abilities.

With only a total of 100 HP to your own, you do have to be careful about how you play. Using the Shadow abilities below, you should be able to slash and dash your way to an easy Nightmare Royale, though, especially with how imbalanced the game is.

Here are each of the Shadow abilities for Fortnitemares 2020.

Slash
A ghostly combo swipe attack.

Dash
Phase through obstacles.

Scream
Mark nearby survivors for shadows in range.

Shadow Jump
A high, floaty leap into the air.

Slash deals roughly 30 damage for each hit and can be very difficult to avoid as enemies have to shoot you very close up — not easy when you are slashing in a combo and also able to Dash away.

Dashing is also very useful when playing as a Shadow, it allowing you to move through player builds and also rotate around the map far quicker.

Scream seems to be the best Shadow ability, however, as it marks all nearby enemies and even helps you regain some health.

All you need to do to play as a Shadow is to be eliminated. If you play as a Shadow three different times, you will also complete a Fortnitemares challenge for a free cosmetic.

Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 4 is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
