Fortnite Season 7, Week 7’s in-depth challenge requires you to locate all the Expedition Outposts. We covered what the Expedition Outposts were in our changes to Season 7 article. For the uninitiated (new to Season 7, or just haven’t bothered to learn their name), Expedition Outposts are the red and white buildings that popped up around the map when Season 7 went live. They essentially look like the typical prefabricated arctic base in the middle of nowhere.

Gameplay (and I suppose ‘story’) wise their purpose is to provide a way for Epic to spawn the X-4 Stormwing elsewhere on the map that isn’t the new arctic area that replaces the formerly miniscule Southwest region of the map. It is for this very reason then, that you can expect to see the vast majority of these Expedition Outposts in the older areas of the map. There is one in the arctic area and one in the desert, but an overwhelming majority (five in total) of them are scattered throughout the ‘green’ older area of the map.

This leaves a total of seven Expedition Outposts for us to visit. Most of the bases are atop some kind of elevation (usually a hill), which would make you think getting to them is quite difficult without a Stormwing (or landing there in the first place). The good news is, they usually have quite a few ziplines that anchor to numerous locations nearby that will assist late (or brave) players to get up there if needed.

One last thing to note regarding the Expedition Outposts, however, is that there are some smaller variations of the outpost style buildings scattered around the map (mostly near the ziplines and in the arctic area). These smaller variations do not count as an Expedition Outpost for the purposes of this challenge. It must be a particular looking buildigs that also spawns Stormwings, which is noted by the fact they all have a runway for said Stormwings.

Regarding the specifics of this challenge, you are required to find and visit all seven of these outposts, butthis is a fairly light ask compared to the more time consuming exploration and search based challenges (Chilly Gnomes, anyone?). The bases are quite large enough to appear on the minimap if you look close enough. Additionally, you are not required to visit all seven in the same match. This means you can take it one match at a time by landing at a different one each game. Or rush it all at one by landing at one (or any location that spawns Stormwings), rushing to a Stormwing and flying in close proximity each Expedition Outpost. Either way works fine, just pick the strategy that works best for you.

As usual, we’ve included a map with all the bases circled in red, along with a screenshot of each location.

As noted earlier, five of the seven bases are all congregated in the older section of the map. This means most of the bases are in the northern sections of the map, with only two (one in the desert and one in arctic) being in the southern area of the map.

Central Expedition Outpost

Dead centre of the map, just west of Dusty Divot, is a large hill that overlooks it. You’ll find an outpost halfway up this hill (not the very top part), with a runway pointing northward. This particular outpost is located on the intersection of F5 and F6 on the main map’s grid.

Central East Expedition Outpost

South of Pleasant Park and East of Snobby Shores, where the arctic tundra bleeds into the grasslands, you’ll find an outpost sitting between two hills on the ground floor, with a runway pointing towards Pleasant Park. This lies on the intersection of B4, B5, C4 and C5 on the main map’s grid.

Central West Expedition Outpost

Directly west of Lonely Lodge is another hill with an outpost atop it. You’ll find this one at I5 on the main map’s grid.

Northern Expedition Outpost

You’ll find this outpost just southeast of Lazy Links and northwest of Tomato Temple, atop a small hill overlooking the golf course. F3 on the main map’s grid.

Northwestern Expedition Outpost

To the northeast of Pleasant Park is a very large hill. Perched upon this hill is a smallish outpost with its runway pointing straight towards Pleasant Park. You’ll find this outpost at D3 on the main map’s grid.

Southeastern Expedition Outpost (Desert)

You’ll find the desert outpost to the east of Fatal Fields and the west of Paradise Palms where the desert blends into the grasslands. This particular outpost will be at ground level (not atop a hill), with a runway facing northward. H8 on the main map’s grid.

Southwestern Expedition Outpost (Arctic)

The only Expedition Outpost in the arctic region (though not the only place in the region to spawn Stormwings, being a fully fledged airfield at Frosty Flights), you can find it atop a large hill north of Happy Hamlet. You can find the arctic outpost at D8 on the main map’s grid.

That’s all seven locations required to complete this challenge. It’s not a particularly large of time-consuming ask and most players who’ve played an ample amount of Season 7 should be inherently familiar with their locations, if not their names. If you’re looking for our weekly challenges article, you can find that here soon. Here’s how to use the Rifts with our Rift locations guide.
