Fortnite OG: When Will Downtime End?

If you’ve been pining for the glory days of Fortnite when everyone was equally terrible at the game and there was always something wild going on, Fortnite OG is finally here to bring some of those feelings back. Basically a micro-season to bookend Chapter 4, Fortnite OG brings back heaps of memorable weapons and items from the early days of Fortnite, remixes Chapter 1 Battle Pass skins for its OG Pass, and even brings back the classic map. But when exactly can you play it?

As of this writing, Fortnite is currently in downtime as Epic deploys patches and makes it checks to ensure that everything is working smoothly. On average, this process takes around 3 or so hours, as Epic has to be pretty certain that everything is working exactly as it should — it’d look pretty bad if they launched a broken season. For that reason, we estimate that Fortnite OG’s downtime will be over at 12PM GMT / 8 AM ET / 7 AM CT. Epic never announces a specific time when downtime is over, the game is just suddenly available to play. However, we anticipate there will be plenty of queues due to the game being in super high demand, so expect some delays before you can actually play it.

The update is currently available on PC, and at a pretty beefy 30GB of data too — be sure to get downloading that ASAP.

Once Fortnite OG is live, you have around a month or so of Chapter 1 madness to look forward to, even including a Stranger Things skin at some point. Epic will be releasing weekly updates that includes even more Chapter 1 goodness before we launch into Chapter 5 in December, which promises even more totally wild updates.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
