The SCAR is the Epic and Legendary version of the Assault Rifle in Fortnite, an iconic weapon that’s been available in the game since almost the very start. Except for the start of Chapter 3.
The SCAR is currently vaulted in Chapter 3, along with pretty much every weapon that used to be in the game. Really, the only weapon from Chapter 2 that remains in Chapter 3 is the Harpoon, and even that doesn’t spawn that often.
Almost all of the weapons are new so that the loot pool can basically be refreshed and to really allow for the new weapons to stand on their own. Something like the Ranger Assault Rifle wouldn’t be nearly as interesting to players if the SCAR was still in the game.
The SCAR is still available in Creative, however, so you can make your own games with the weapon if you’re missing it.
And don’t forget that just because a weapon isn’t in the game right now, it doesn’t mean that it will never return. In fact, there’s a high chance that it might even return near the end of the season as Epic looks to vary things up before a new season begins.
