First PUBG Xbox One Patch Rolling Out Today

PUBg Xbox One
PUBG at launch on Game Preview

PUBG on Xbox One isn’t a perfect port by any means, and it isn’t always competent, either. The poor framerates, the rather crude textures, and the frequent crashes are some of the things that are holding the console port back.

The good thing about it being in the Game Preview is that the developers can take the time to tweak things, even if there’s a sense that it might have been slightly rushed out to meet the Christmas deadline. Still, just a week after launch, the first patch for PUBG on Xbox One is inbound.

At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be a fix for the stuttering framerates and muddy textures on a regular Xbox One, but these may come under “other minor fixes” in the list below. Most of the changes listed below are small, but the prompt to reload might save a lot of new players a lot of grief. Elsewhere, the disabling of keyboard support is an interesting move.

Here are the patch notes in full:

The post (which you can read in full here) mentions that this patch (rolling out at 1AM PST/10AM CET/6PM KST) is the first of many for the fledgling game. You get the feeling that the team are going to need to stick to that promise to keep PUBG afloat on Xbox One – while it’s easy to overlook some of the flaws now, it might not be quite so acceptable as time wears on. Just look at how much backlash the PC version of the game has been getting lately. Bluehole have been keen to expand the reach of PUBG and add new content while also forgetting to fix the glaring and critical issues with the game.
