Sony appear to putting their ducks into a row for the release of the PS5, as various PS4 first party games have received updates. While games receiving updates is usually nothing to write home about, Sony have been updating a bunch of games that have been available for a few years now.
Mysterious Updates, You Say?
There’s been patches released for games like Marvel’s Spider-Man, God of War (2018) and Astro Bot Rescue Mission, but there have been patches for games like God of War 3 Remastered, which has been out for a lot longer. Patching that game at the same time as other first party exclusives is a little curious.
So What Are These Updates For?
We have no indication on what could be patched, but considering the launch of the PS5 is penciled in for next month, perhaps Sony is trying to ensure that all of their first-party line-up is fully optimised for the next-gen hardware. Perhaps they’re laying the groundwork for new PS5 features like Activities.
