Fighting With My Family has seen much controversy on its route to release, but after much anticipation, the first official trailer has landed. The biopic focuses on British wrestler, Paige, who really broke the mould for female superstars and started a revolution that has seen a total overhaul in women’s wrestling and how its presented to the masses.
Fighting With My Family tells the story of Paige’s journey, which started with a childhood dream and saw her through to debuting on Monday Night Raw, WWE’s flagship show in 2013. Most wrestling fans are clued in on the struggles and turmoil that most aspiring wrestlers face on their road to superstardom, but never has it been as explicit as it seems to be in the upcoming film. Audiences will get a first-hand look at the rigorous training that takes place down in Florida’s Performance Centre and the hardships of the dire British independent scene prior to its recent renaissance.
Leading the cast is Florence Pugh, taking on the role of Paige. A fresh face for the big screen, here’s hoping this could be a break-out role for the young actress. Supporting her are notable British film stars; Nick Frost and Lena Headey with Hollywood sensation and wrestling legend – Dwayne ‘Johnson playing…The Rock.
Expect all sorts of charm, charisma and bittersweet moments coming your way in the first ever biopic of a WWE Superstar. As a huge wrestling nerd, I can’t wait to get an inside look at Paige’s early career and the struggles she faced as she rose to prominence in the WWE.
