This week’s episode of NXT on Fox saw ‘The Original Bro’ Matt Riddle pull out of his spot in the WarGames main event to take the place of Johnny Gargano in the feud with Finn Balor. We couldn’t think of a better substitute for ‘Johnny Wrestling’ than the former UFC fighter himself. Balor has yet to compete in his return match to NXT, many fans have been eagerly awaiting to see when the date for his first in-ring appearance back on the black and gold brand would be, now they can finally start counting down the days to WarGames.
Matt Riddle was originally scheduled to be a part of Tommaso Ciampa’s brigade against The Undisputed Era, having fought alongside ‘The Blackheart’ and Keith Lee in recent weeks. However, after Riddle’s attack on Finn Balor this week on NXT, I don’t think there’s a single person wishing he stayed put.
Finn hit the ring and berated the brand as well as the Full Sail fans in attendance, running it down as something that has ‘lost its flame’ under the likes of Johnny Gargano and Matt Riddle. Riddle immediately retaliated and took revenge for NXT.
