Final Fantasy XV’s Ending Was Leaked Half a Year Ago

Don’t worry, there are no spoilers here.

Final Fantasy XV has only been out for a day, but the internet has already been taken over with blogs, videos, and whispers about what the game’s all about. Basically, you can either get on the FF train or get out the way.

It turns out that a whisper from earlier in the year might have been a genuine leak of the game’s ending. He may have been discounted at the time because he posted on 4Chan and 4Chan is where dreams go to die, but it turns out that since the game has been released and been completed by plenty, a lot of what an anonymous poster claimed has turned out to be correct.

The original 4Chan post from May has long since disappeared, but the best bits were replicated in a Neogaf thread earlier in the year. Be warned, that link is dark and full of spoilers.

Despite cynicism from some of the commenters and the fact that a lot of it just sounds made up, he was certainly in the know. Whether he worked on the game personally or knew someone that knew someone that knew someone is up in the air, but there are a couple of interesting (non-spoiler) tidbits.

– A Final Fantasy XVI is dependent on how well XV does.
– Square Enix were “nervous as fuck” about the game reaching its September release date. A delay wasn’t far behind.
– Back in May, roughly only two hours of the game were playable.
– DLC is coming, but might be a while – so much attention has been placed on the main content being completed.
– The PS4 port was an absolute nightmare.

While Final Fantasy XV might not go down as the best in the series, reception has been relatively warm critically and seems to be going over well with fans. You can pick it up on PS4 or Xbox One to find out for yourself or wait for it to come out on PC.
