Fans who are familiar with the original game will be happy to know that you don’t have to spend hours breeding your way to a Black Chocobo in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. On the other hand, catching Belle, your new Chocobo for the Junon Region is a lot tougher than the first wrangling mini-game from The Grasslands.
After a brief overview of the area, you’re going to want to sneak forward through the bushes and flip a switch to your right. Walk Cloud along the side of the track as the cart begins to move forward. This will block the first set of Chocobos from seeing you as you make your way to the next challenge.
Now, you’ll reach a second switch. Flipping it will bring another cart your way. When it arrives, you can either flip the switch again quickly and then hold the run button to catch up to the cart or start by the cart and throw a rock at the switch so that it begins to move while you’re closer to it.
You’ll notice that the Chocobos no longer pay attention to the rocks that you throw as a distraction, so you’ll have to be more creative here. Look forward and to the right to see a switch that you can hit with a rock from the safety of the bushes. This will start another cart slowly moving, which can again hide you from view.
Stay on the outside until you pass the stack of pallets, and then follow the back bumper of the cart until it turns on the track. Here, quickly switch to the inside of the track to hide from the next Chocobo. Note that you may have to hold down on the run button from time to time to keep up with the cart and stay behind it.
Again, move to the back of the cart as it makes its way to the Black Chocobo. Finally, switch to the outside of the track again and stay with the cart until you’re behind Belle. Now, all you have to do is sneak up on her until the catch button appears. Tap it and snag yourself a fancy new Chocobo that can climb walls, opening up all kinds of new secrets and missions for you in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
