Fear is the Mind Killer in Dune Official Trailer

Warner Bros. reminding us that they control the spice with the official trailer for Dune.

Warner Brothers just released the official trailer for Dune, after much teasing I may add (they released a teaser to announce the official trailer’s drop), and with good reason because it looks amazing.

Firstly, the cast is a stacked one. We have Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, and other cast members include the likes of Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar nominee Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Chang Chen, with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Oscar winner Javier Bardem.

Dune is directed by Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve, adapted from the sci-fi tale from Frank Herbert. This comes after two directors before him tried to adapt it and didn’t quite succeed. We have David Lynch’s 1984 version, and Alejandro Jodorowsky didn’t manage to make a film, though there is a documentary about his attempt. Interestingly, there is a Pink Floyd song in the trailer, as a nice nod to Jodorowsky’s intention to have Pink Floyd, who at the time had just released their eighth album Dark Side of the Moon, work on the soundtrack for his version.

Villeneuve’s version is scored by Hans Zimmer – who else would you get for a blockbuster sci-fi film like this? Dune is also a two part feature, which is why Villeneuve took on the project, so that he could properly complete the vision he has for Dune.

Dune is currently set to be released December 18, 2020.
