The Evil Within 2 Now Playable Entirely In First-Person

The Evil Within 2 PS4

One of last year’s most underrated games is still getting updated. The Evil Within 2, the arguably superior sequel to Shinji Mikami’s polarising survival horror game, is now playable through its entirety in first-person. Imagine what happened to GTA V when it leapt to this generation but much, much darker and more macabre.

The Evil Within 2 already had an incredibly tense first-person section whereby you have to creep around sewers while almost totally vulnerable. It was so good that I wondered if it would be possible to replicate the whole game in the perspective. Apparently it is, and as easy as flipping a switch.

Here’s the trailer:

Tango Gameworks’ producer, Shinsaku Ohara, had the following to say:

“A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the game’s situations through Sebastian’s eyes, it’s a really neat experience. I think exploring Union in first-person makes the scale feel even bigger than it does when you’re in third-person. Also, being able to see our environments and enemies up close allows players to get an even better look at how much effort went into their designs.”

If you’re yet to experience The Evil Within 2 yet, you really ought to. It’s easily one of the best horror games of recent years and is now available for a pretty cheap price. Per my review:

“Even with an uneven story and a couple of clumsy controls, The Evil Within 2 is an enthralling and dark sojourn that deserves to stand alongside Resident Evil 7 and Outlast 2 as one of the best survival horror games of 2017. It’s so good that I can almost forgive them for not letting me pet the cat. Almost.”
