With the release of Fortnite v5.41, Epic have introduced a new item into the fray, the Port-A-Fortress, which has also been given its own trailer.
Although brief, the trailer does seem to suggest that the Port-A-Fortress will be an incredibly useful item to have in your inventory. Towering over the Port-A-Fort, it looks like it will offer immediate and sturdy protection from other players.
The basics:
It’s huge!
Builds instantly.
Includes built-in Bouncers for an easy exit.
Legendary Rarity.
Found in Vending Machines, chests, Supply Drops, and Supply Llamas.
Judging from the reaction to it on YouTube so far, it does seem to be splitting opinion. It must be noted, however, that the Port-A-Fortress is much “fatter” than it is tall, so it won’t be much of an issue to try and scale it. Those who are worried about it catering too much to new players may need to remember that they just need to use a few ramps, and there you go: the Port-A-Fortress has now been conquered.
It coming equipped with Bouncers does seem to suggest that players will struggle to counteract it if they come across a whole squad, however. It’s worth remembering how much backlash the Port-A-Fort received during its introduction for bridging a skill gap, though the item is now very much an afterthought for many players.
I am intrigued to see how this new item changes up the meta, though with it being in the Legendary variety, it may not be seen all that much. I can’t wait to see the havoc it causes in Tilted Towers: imagine throwing it down at the base of one of the area’s titular towers?
