Riot Games and Epic Games have struck up a deal, bringing Riot’s hit games League of Legends PC, Legends of Runeterra, VALORANT, and Teamfight Tactics to the Epic Games Store.

Each of these four games is free to play, and installing them will launch a new Riot client which will allow players to access their new games.

Steve Allison, Vice President and General Manager of the Epic Games Store, said the following on the development: “Riot Games is one of the world’s best developers and creators of groundbreaking entertainment franchises. We’re excited they’ve chosen to partner with us to bring their titles to millions of new players through the Epic Games Store.”

League of Legends, which was released in 2009, is an extremely popular online autobattler in the vein of Dota and esports staple that helped blaze the trail of the popularity and commercial viability of competitive video games.

Legends of Runeterra, released in April 2020, is a card-based game drawing inspiration from Magic: The Gathering and utilizing characters and ideas from League of Legends lore.

VALORANT, which came out in June 2020, is a competitive, team-based FPS, with similarities to Apex Legends and Fortnite albeit with much slimmer margins for error and more tightly-constructed encounters.

Teamfight Tactics, released in June 2019 for Windows and Mac and Android/iPhones in March 2020, is a League of Legends spin-off with different mechanics and, as the name implies, a focus on teamwork.

Existing players for these games will be able to carry over their progress, achievements, and contacts and access their pre-existing accounts.

As a means of promoting this new working relationship, Riot has allowed League of Legends’ character Jinx to be playable in Fortnite, marking the first time a Riot Games character will appear in a non-Riot game.
