The Glintstone Key is your ticket to unlocking the magical gates of Raya Lucaria Academy in Elden Ring and it can be found in Liurna of the Lakes region. If you’ve been struggling to open the gates of the Raya Lucaria Academy, here’s everything you need to know.
The academy is arguably the next best place to head to after clearing out Stormveil Castle but the forcefield can be a quick turnoff as it requires the Glintstone Key, which you probably don’t have. Don’t lose heart though because you can grab the key with no problem and be wandering the academy dungeon in no time. Luckily, the key isn’t too far from the academy but you’ll need to be wary as you go to grab it.
The Glintstone Key is located in the central Liurna of the Lakes region which is where the academy is. If you are at the southern entrance of Raya Academy, you should head northwest along its perimeter. You’ll eventually see a large group of rocks sticking out of the lake bed and the sleeping Glintstone Dragon Smarag. The Glintstone Key is located on a dead sorcerer directly behind the beast.
You are free to fight this dragon if you would like but he’s tougher than the first boss in the academy. If you do try your hand at slaying this beast, you should consider using Torrent. Smarag is incredibly agile and will not wait long to fly backward and breathe blue fire in your direction.
He will also fly at your spraying fire at times but you can use Torrent’s double jump while running to the side to dodge the flames. Sprint at him whenever he lands and take swings at him until he’s defeated. He will swing his tail or raise his foot when you are close though so watch out for those moves
The best thing to do, though, is to take a wide berth and sneak behind him. Don’t be afraid if he wakes up and starts moving away, chances are he hasn’t realized you are in his nest quite yet. Just grab the key and other goodies and fast travel back to Raya Lucaria Academy before the dragon realizes what you have done. Voilà, you can now enter the academy without any issues.
Alternatively, you can head south from the Site of Grace at the Crystalline Woods and this will deposit you behind where the sleeping dragon rests, making it a little easier to sneak up behind him and grab the artifacts. While the key allows you to traverse the barrier at Raya Lucaria Academy, it won’t allow you to enter similar barriers such as those at Sellia.
