The Erdsteel Dagger is a great early-game dagger in Elden Ring for people who have builds built around strength, dexterity, and speed, however, obtaining it will take a bit of leg work. Here’s what you need to know about how to grab the Erdsteel Dagger.

In order to obtain the dagger, you’ll need to complete a quest for an out-of-luck lord. Kenneth Haight wants to take back his fort from a bunch of miscreants so he asks you to do it for him.

Kenneth can be found shouting on top of the ruin that arches over the path west of the Church of Third Marika if you follow the road. Alternatively, you can head down the road east of the Gatefront ruins and take a left at the fork. You’ll hear him shouting in no time. You don’t need to talk to him yet if you don’t want to. You can wait until after you have cleared out the fort.

Fort Haight is south of the road from the Church of Third Marika and you should be on the lookout for the map fragment for East Limgrave. It’ll be near a giant bear, so it’s best to pick this one up and continue on your journey.

Fort Haight is guarded by a small army inside and out. A large arrow will be shot once you are in range, so it might be best to charge past the initial barricades and jump into the weeds to the left using Torrent. The enemies will forget you and you can begin to get a feel for the area. Walk around the back of the fort and scope out the enemies waiting near the stairs. There are several armored guards and a pumpkin head.

While you could decide you take these enemies on, it might be better to simply sneak by them and head on inside.

Inside, there will be several enemies throwing firebombs, a few rats, and a knight at the top of the fort. Run straight in and aim for the small doorway on the wall opposite of the entrance. Here you’ll fight a few rats and guards in close proximity but it’s preferable to having fire thrown at you. Once those initial enemies are taken care of, you can begin to pick off the enemies throwing firebombs.

It’s best to clear out as many people as you can before you aggro the knight as he will be tough enough on his own depending on your level. The knight can easily be kited to the bottom of the fort and you can reposition to the top for long-range combat since he tends to get confused around the barricades down there. Do this as many times as you need to defeat him because he will eventually remember how to walk around things.

If you are more of a melee build, you’ll need to pick your opening carefully and avoid the bleed damage he deals when he shifts to a two-handed style. Parrying works well if you can manage it, otherwise you’ll need to wait for him to perform one of his two-handed swipes and try to get a swing in.

Once you take out the knight and loot the fort, you can head back to Kenneth who will gift you the Erdsteel Dagger. The dagger scales with strength and dexterity and comes with the skill Quick Step, so it’s an excellent choice for people who enjoy quick and close combat.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.
