Greatswords are some of the most popular weapons in Soulsborne games, and that status is held for a good reason. With their hulking damage and massive swing distance, Greatswords are among the most effective weapon types you can find in these games. That’s why we want to let you know where to find the Bloodhound’s Fang in Elden Ring as soon as possible.

In order to nab yourself this impressive Curved Greatsword, you’ll need to head to the southern tip of Limgrave. There you’ll find Forlorn Hound Evergaol, which houses Bloodhound Knight Darriwill.

When you see a particularly notable circle of stone with a blue portal, you’ll know you’ve found the right spot.

Entering the portal will take you to the Evergaol, where this fiendish specimen has been locked away. Bloodhound Knight Darriwill won’t immediately attack, though, as you’ll have to trigger an invasion from him by approaching the blue light in the Evergaol. The moment he appears is an excellent opportunity to get a few licks in on him the easy way before he gets his bearings.

Darriwill is one of the fastest and most dangerous enemies in the early sections of Elden Ring. His fighting style is similar to Artorias of the Abyss from the Dark Souls DLC. Big swings, lethal damage, and speed that can easily keep you on the ropes. Healing can also be a challenge as his quick attacks can interrupt your healing animations before they are even complete.

His weapon, which we’re here for, will cut through shield defenses and cause the Bleed status effect the more you’re hit by it. As such, dodging through his swings is your best bet. Two-handing your weapon and disregarding your shield can be an effective strategy, as can utilizing any offensive spells or Ashes of War you might have found up until this point.

You should also consider using your Glinstone Staff to get in plenty of free hits from distance as the fight begins. In fact, if you just keep back-pedaling and rolling while getting off sorcery attacks, you might find that this fearsome foe isn’t all the fearsome.

Don’t worry if he gets the best of you. A nearby Stake of Marika saves you the long jaunt to this fight from the nearest Site of Grace. This factor will allow you to learn his patterns and precisely when to roll to avoid his deadly strikes along the way.

The Bloodhound Knight is a fierce foe and may even require you to grind some levels before you risk challenging him. However, once you’ve bested the beast of Evergaol at last, you’ll receive the Bloodhound’s Fang for your trouble. This is an insanely effective early to mid-game weapon, and if you’re a Greatsword specialist, you’ll be happy to have found it.

With its consistent Bleed and high damage count, finding the Bloodhound’s Fang in Elden Ring can give you a real leg up as you explore The Lands Between and seek your place among the Elden Lords.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X & S, and Xbox One.
