EGX Rezzed 2020 Postponed Due To The COVID-19 Pandemic

A new date is forthcoming.

EGX Rezzed

Due to the ongoing situation regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, EGX Rezzed has taken the difficult decision to postpone their 2020 show. Originally, the event was scheduled to take place from Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th March at the Tobacco Dock in London, but now that’s been pushed back until the Summer. Check out the tweet below.

In a statement on the official website, the organisers, Reedpop, say the following: “Having monitored the situation around COVID-19 constantly over these last few weeks and following many hours of conversation internally and with our partners, we have taken the incredibly difficult decision to move EGX: Rezzed to Summer 2020 with date and announcement forthcoming.

“We did everything that we could to try to run the event as planned, but ultimately, maintaining social distancing is neither feasible at, nor in the spirit of, the interactive and community nature of Rezzed. It is the community that makes Rezzed so special and it is our duty to make sure that your safety comes first.”

The website goes on to say that fans who purchased tickets to attend Rezzed will still be able to attend the event once a date has been announced, as the old tickets will still be valid. If you’re unable to attend once the new date has been announced, you can email the customer services team.

While postponing the event in order to maintain the health and safety of all involved is unquestionably the right move, this is still going to hurt those involved in a big way. Rezzed itself is dedicated to indie gaming, and many developers were likely relying on using Rezzed to generate positive exposure for their games, and they probably sunk a lot of money into that plan. Fingers crossed that the indie gaming scene won’t be too badly affected by this unfortunate turn of events.
