Edge Teases Wrestling Retirement After WWE RAW

Fear not Edgeheads, it's not for another year.

Following the events of Monday Night RAW, Edge made a surprising reference to his coming retirement as part of an off-screen promo. Taking place in front of his hometown crowd of Toronto and having just defeated The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest, Edge took to the microphone to address his situation in WWE.

‘The Rated R Superstar’ spoke of his WWE journey, citing that he never thought he’d be able to wrestle in front of a live audience in his hometown again, but was more than happy to be back wrestling for the fans that motivated him to return from a career-ending injury. Edge spoke of his eventual retirement plans, saying that he wants to hang the boots up within the next year in front of the Toronto crowd, suggesting that it might also be taking place around next August.

Edge also took the time to put over his opponent, Damien Priest, before leading the crowd in a chant for the Maple Leafs and sending the crowd home happy.

Of course, none of this is set in stone and Edge may yet be around for a little longer than just this next year. But if Edge is determined to say farewell to wrestling in front of his hometown crowd, then that would certainly make for an emotional conclusion to his legendary career.

Here’s hoping that WWE manage to book a pay-per-view event in Toronto next year, allowing Edge a major platform for him to fulfil his retirement plans.
