There are alternate universes where Edens Zero doesn’t get a second season, but fortunately, this isn’t one of them. Edens Zero, a fantastic sci-fi anime made by the same creator of Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima, is now set to release a new season. It features time travel, parallel universes, and futuristic YouTubers. What’s not to like? Here’s all you should know about Edens Zero: Season 2.
Edens Zero is about a boy named Shiki Granbell who lives alone on a deserted planet. One day, he meets Rebecca Bluegarden, a B-Cuber who came to his world looking for content for her B-Cube channel (basically their universe’s version of YouTube).
Together, they set out to look for a mysterious being called Mother who can supposedly grant wishes. Along the way, they obtain a ship that once belonged to Shiki’s adoptive grandfather. The ship is called Edens Zero.
When Is Edens Zero: Season 2 Being Released?
Shiki Granbell and the rest of the crew aboard the Edens Zero are set to launch on Sunday, April 2, 2023. The Edens Zero: Season 2 trailer confirms this. You can visit their main website for the key visuals and merch if you’re interested in purchasing some. Just get your Google translate ready.
What Is Edens Zero: Season 2 About?
The first season of Edens Zero covers Volumes 1-8 of the manga. It ends with the death of Valkyrie and Homura taking her place in the Four Shining Stars.
Volume 9 is about the Edens Zero crew facing off against Drakken Joe. They head off to the Belial Gore but soon get found out. Drakken then sends teams of infiltrators and elemental special force units to deal with them.
Which Studio Is Making Edens Zero: Season 2?
Kodansha and Nippon Television Music will once again be co-producing Edens Zero. However, the third producer, Magic Capsule, is backing out of the anime. Instead Magic Bus, another anime production company, will be stepping in. The animation studio remains unchanged though, J.C. Staff will continue their work with Edens Zero: Season 2.
Kodansha is an incredibly well-known anime producer that started in 1909. It’s the company behind Attack on Titan, Your Lie In April, and Hiro Mashima’s other hit, Fairy Tail.
Nippon Television Music has been in business since 1969 but has only helped produce a handful of anime including Flying Witch and Chihayafuru: Season 3.
Magic Bus has been producing anime since 1972 and is known for its adult anime releases. Although they do have experience producing TV anime in the past, these include How A Realist Hero Rebuilt The Kingdom and And Yet The Town Moves.
J.C. Staff is another classic name in anime. They’ve been animating shows since 1986 including Toradora! and Food Wars!
The director of the first season, Yūshi Suzuki, sadly passed away right before the season finale. Season 2 will now be directed by Toshinori Watanabe, who was part of the storyboard team of Season 1.
Where To Watch Edens Zero
Season 1 of Edens Zero is currently available on Netflix, depending on your region. Since Netflix is the only streaming service that has it outside of Japan, you might have to use a VPN in case the show is region blocked in your area. It’s also likely that Netflix is the only place where Edens Zero: Season 2 will be available on.
