Another year, another FIFA–oh wait, hold on. Another year, a first outing for EA Sports FC with EA Sports FC 24. Its name might not seem like it’s still FIFA, but it looks and plays and even sounds like FIFA, with EA deciding not to renew the FIFA license to save some money. It’s the same FIFA you know and love, except with a different name. And if you love saving money on buying the Ultimate Edition of the game, we have some good news for you — there’s still an easy way of saving money too.
If you’re a PC player, with that version of the game now having parity with the PS5 and Xbox Series versions, there is a EA subscription service by the name of EA Play Pro that allows subscribers to play all of EA’s biggest games from day one for a monthly or annual cost, and that includes EA Sports FC 24: Ultimate Edition. This means that you can also play from September 22nd, 2023 when the game’s early access period begins.
EA Play Pro costs $14.99/£14.99 a month or $99.99/£89.99 a year. Considering that it’d cost more than that for just EA Sports FC 24: Ultimate Edition on its own, that’s a pretty good price and saving, especially for the more casual players who won’t be playing it all year long. For instance, if you know that you will just be playing Career for a couple of months, that will still only cost you £30.
After subscribing, players will have to download the EA app, which is separate to Steam — you will need to invite your friends there as well.
As of this writing, EA Sports FC 24 is available for preload ahead of launch. Players can also get access to all of EA’s other day and date games, with the likes of the recent Immortals of Aveum, Jedi: Survivor, and Dead Space all being included with your subscription.
Can I Cancel EA Play Pro Any Time?
Yes, players can cancel their subscription at any time if on a monthly plan. If paying annually and not auto-reneweing, you will not be able to get a refund but will have access to the service until it expires.
Will I Lose My EA Sports FC 24 Content?
While you won’t lose your content immediately if you cancel your subscription, you will not be able to access it until you subscribe again to EA Play Pro, at which point your progress (including UT) will continue. This is the major downside of EA Play Pro and subscription service games, in that you never actually own anything.
